Eight Journeys

My role in the success of "Eight Journeys," the final exhibition by the first group of students in the Visual Communication: Design, Society, Nature program at The Margate School, highlights my strategic and creative capabilities. Located in Margate, Kent, this one-year, part-time postgraduate program broadened my understanding of Visual Communication Design, focussing on effective information delivery, storytelling, and designing meaningful experiences.

During my time in the program, I honed my already existing skills, including typography, editorial design, and semiotics. The curriculum also encouraged exploration in various mediums like animation, film, photography, illustration and art. At The Margate School, we were encouraged to adopt a critical, interdisciplinary approach to design, underpinned by the belief in design’s ability to inform, educate, challenge, and address social and environmental challenges.

My contribution to the "Eight Journeys" exhibition, particularly through the creation of an animated logo, demonstrates my commitment to a design practice focused on social engagement and prioritising people and the planet. This experience not only improved my design skills and technical knowledge but also reinforced my resolve to use design as a tool for positive change.
